A few years back I resolved that if I ever saw someone who made me think “boy I’d love to photograph them”, then I would approach them if I got the chance. Every now and then I chicken out, but I’ve also done my fair share of chasing strangers to ask if they’d consider modelling for me. I give them my card and tell them to think about it, and some don’t get back to me (hopefully not because I creeped them out :) ) but others do.
I met Dayle when she was at my stand at the NZ Art Show back in June, and luckily it turned out she was one of the ones who was up for it. She’s a fine art student, which was great as it felt like a collaboration (and she had awesome clothes!). My initial idea of how I’d like to photograph her proved to be unworkable (quite possibly because I got busy and waited until the afternoon before our shoot to actually test it out), so instead we just played around with different lighting and looks, which was really fun.
Thanks so much Dayle, and I hope you enjoy the results!
