After a busy season of wedding photography and some lovely pregnancy and newborn shoots, I felt well qualified to move onto my next subject - cyanide tanks.
The tanks in question were built early last century at a gold mine in Waihi, and are now heritage structures. The engineers at Dunning Thornton Consultants need detailed photographs of all the facades so they can monitor any impact on the tanks from the owners' present mining operations. Alexander was very impressed that Mum got a ride in a cage that was swung high by a crane and then dropped down the different sides of each tank. Mum herself was just impressed that she wasn't sick over the edge!
