Hannah and Des's wedding at Tarureka Estate

I was really excited about kicking off the season with this wedding over at Featherston's Tarureka Estate, because having got to know Hannah and Des (Derek) a little, I knew I'd really enjoy their company and that their wedding would be full of style. From Hannah's amazing shoes by an outfit called "Irregular Choice" (they even had leaping circus rabbits printed on the soles) down to the guys' suave suits and hats, these guys rocked it! Hannah was so composed and relaxed when I arrived, and took in her stride a last-minute move to an indoor ceremony when the lawn proved too damp for the garden wedding she'd hoped for. Tarureka's indoor option is a gorgeous wooden barn where many couples choose to hold their ceremony even when it's not raining, so she had all her bases well covered. :)

The guys got ready in the little cottage at Tarureka. The two lovely photos below are by my assistant Mark Berger.

Hannah and Des chose to see each other before the ceremony and it was lovely to see the look of pride and love on Des's face when he first turned around and saw how beautiful Hannah looked.

How dapper are these guys? I loved the suit jackets and the boutonnieres made from succulents.

While the guests were arriving we drove down the road a little way until we spotted a paddock with these old chimneys and some gorgeous trees. A few beehives too, but nothing that would stop a bridal party from juggling...

Hannah's brother David walked her down the aisle, and Des's son Finn did a beautiful reading of a children's book called Personal Penguin, a firm favourite of Hannah and Des's 18-month-old son Beckett. "I like you a lot, you're funny and kind, so let me explain what I have in mind. I want to be your Personal Penguin, I want to walk right by your side. I want to be your Personal Penguin, I want to travel with you far and wide...."

Hannah's shoes got a gratifying reaction from the guests! :)

Because we'd done the bridal party photos before the ceremony, Hannah and Des were able to spend time with their guests before the meal. There was more juggling, and a bubble machine and Wii for the kids.

I loved Mark's shot above right! Just shows what you can do if you concentrate hard enough.

Meanwhile the Tarureka staff were busying readying the loft for the evening's celebrations.

Hannah and Des you wonderful people, thank you for allowing us to share one of the most important days of your lives!
