This was my first wedding of the 2013/14 season and I was itching to get back into it! It was already promising to be a good one, with the ceremony at a lovely little chapel and the reception being held at The Landing in Masterton, which I always enjoy shooting at. I met Megan and Brendan only four days before the wedding, because Brendan is an Australian and they live over the ditch. It was great to meet in person and find that we were on the same wavelength (though I already suspected as much from Megan's emails). Then the weather gods put on an absolutely gorgeous day, and it was Game On. I photographed Megan's preparations at her parents' home in Masterton, while my talented second-shooter Douglas Voon covered the guys at the Copthorne Hotel. Megan was the picture of calm (on the outside at least) even when some of the beading detail on her dress broke at the last minute. Her aunt just lightly touched a finger to a loose thread and it went PING! and shot a few beads across the room! Fortunately her aunt is a dab hand with a needle, and managed to sew it so that at least it was secure and Megan wasn't about to leave a beautiful trail of sparkly beads behind her on the way up the aisle.
The ceremony was held in the chapel at Megan's old school, St Matthews Collegiate School in Pownall Street. We then took a few photos in the school grounds before heading out to The Landing for some more photos and the evening's festivities! Thanks so much Megan and Brendan for an awesome day, and to Douglas for being an awesome assistant. :)
