Mel and Aoife's civil union

Who says you should only do this once? Mel and Aoife got married in Dublin in September and decided to have a "re-run" for New Zealand friends this month, and I had the privilege of photographing it. Mel's a kiwi and Aoife is Irish: she lived in New Zealand for seven years and the two of them met playing soccer (hence the soccer-themed table names!). Proceedings started out with a champagne reception and the ceremony at the beautiful Logan Brown in central Wellington, and then the guests were bussed out to Eastbourne to enjoy the evening sunshine and a lovely meal at Cobar. Mel and Aoife were much more interested in documentary coverage than anything too formal, but they did want a couple of portraits so we nipped around the corner (away from the cheering guests - it's not easy to be photographed with an audience!) and spent five minutes grabbing the last few shots in this post.

The reception venue was decorated with orange calla lilies - Alistair and I had them at our own wedding too. Mel and Aoife are obviously women of fine taste.

I think the photos show how much love, goodwill and laughter there was on this wonderful day. Thank you Mel and Aoife for choosing me as your photographer and best wishes for your life together back in Ireland!
