Niki and Steve's wedding

Niki and Steve were married last Saturday at Holy Trinity, a sweet little country church in Ohariu Valley. The aisle was so tiny that Niki and her Dad had to come down it single file! undefined

Niki and Steve's sweet 18-month-old Aramai wasn't hanging around for the reception so we took some photos outside the church before she went home for her sleep.  The guests then boarded their bus again to the surprise reception venue - Boomrock Lodge out on the coast.

Niki and Steve were left to walk. Just kidding.

Boomrock is a stunning wedding venue that offers a range of activities including extreme golf (impressive prizes for a hole-in-one!), petanque and clay bird shooting. The less sporty guests can just soak up those amazing sea views!

The little green-ribboned boxes on the reception tables had Pebbles in them, and Steve told a rather sweet story in his speech. Apparently male Emperor penguins search high and low for a perfect pebble to present to their would-be mate - the more perfect the stone they've found, the higher their chances. Niki and Steve were walking on the beach one day and Steve presented her with a tiny, shiny stone...  It is now one of Niki's most prized possessions.

After a beautiful first dance the guest all piled in too - I love it when people throw themselves into the dancing!

Niki and Steve had surprised all their guests with the fantastic reception venue but Niki had another surprise up her sleeve, for Steve this time. Under the guise of doing a group photo we got everyone out on the lawn...

Note that the sensible man kept his beer.

Steve has always wanted to learn to fly so it was a pretty amazing way to exit your wedding party! The ride back to Wellington is only six minutes but that was time enough to leave behind a beautiful blue day at Boomrock and arrive back to a grey, overcast city (good choice of venue guys... )  We got a good birds-eye view of the massive Queen Elizabeth cruise ship as we came in to land.

It was lovely to be able to have a quick glass of celebratory champagne with the newlyweds at Dockside while Angela drove my car back into town!

Niki and Steve, you guys are great and it was a wonderful day full of fun, spontaneity and love. I'm really happy for you and wish you all the best.
